Meet the Team

Kirstie Howell - Manager - Kirstie joined Fife Young Carers in 2018 having managed other young peoples services for several years. She is passionate about ensuring young carers in Fife can access the support which best suits their needs. 
She provides support to the Fife Young Carers staff and also works closely with FYC's Management Committee, the local Young Carer's Strategy Group and at a national level with the Young Carers' Services Alliance. She’s based at our office in Lochgelly but really enjoys visiting the groups and spending time with young carers. 

Allison Logan  - Team Leader - Allison has worked with young people for a number of years, most recently working young people in a residential setting. She provides person centred one to one support for young adult carers living in the East of Fife. Our service to young adult carers aims to improve their personal development and ensure they are able to sustain their education, training or employment.

Jodie Burn - Team Leader - Jodie previously worked as our Schools Worker for West Fife; raising awareness of young carers issues in schools to ensure both staff and pupils have a greater understanding of the effects of a caring role. Jodie has supported young people and their families for a number of years and is committed to providing person centred care to young carers.

Rebecca Mellon - Team Leader - Rebecca is our Team Leader for our Under 16 and Family Wellbeing services. Rebecca joined our team in October 2019, having previously worked with children and young people in a variety of settings, including education and the voluntary sector. She was our West Fife Support Worker before being promoted to Team Leader. 

Regan Ball - Administrator - Regan is our Administrator, and joined Fife Young Carers in 2018.  Regan's job is to keep everything running smoothly. Every day is different and sometimes she doesn’t end up doing the things she’s planned to do for the day!  
She’s usually the first person you'll hear on the phone, and works office hours Monday to Friday (you can leave a message out with these hours).  Regan also supports the service as a Sessional Worker; working directly with our Young Carers at Support Groups.

Kim Farmer - Administrative Assistant - Kim is our Administrative Assistant and is new to the team in 2021.  She has come on board to support Regan in keeping the office running smoothly!  She will be dealing with referrals amongst other things and working Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  She will most likely be the person you’ll hear at the end of the phone on those days. 


Beth Sutherland - Advocacy Worker - Beth joined the team in 2021 and works 1:1 with our Young and Young Adult Carers, giving them and their families a voice and providing information. She also supports the completion of Emergency Plans with our Young Carers  - giving peace of mind to themselves and their families.

Lorraine Simpson - Befriending Coordinator - Lorraine has joined our Team to help support our Befriending project. Lorraine has worked in the charity sector for 16 years with background in befriending projects previously. 


Rachael Ferrier - Family Wellbeing Worker - Having worked with children and young people for over 10 years, Rachael is passionate about supporting Children and Young People. She joined the team in 2017 and supports young carers living across Fife in this role.

Shona Hynd - Support Worker, Kirkcaldy - Shona is our support worker for Kirkcaldy under 18’s area. She joined FYC in September 2021 having worked in various roles for families and young people including panel member for foster carers, Children panel and protection advisor and a residential childcare worker.  Currently Shona is studying to become a fully qualified therapist.

Anglea Brogan - Support Worker, North East Fife - Angela joined Fife Young Carers in September 2021 as Support worker for the North East Fife area. Angela has previously worked with Children and Young People in a variety of settings including Education and Social work sector. Angela is looking forward to meeting Fifes Young Carers and getting started in her new Role.

Charlie Bowie - Support Worker, Glenrothes - Charlie has grown and developed her role within our organisation for some time. She was a Young Carer with us throughout her teen years, then went on to become an active member of our Participation and Engagement group and then came on board with us as a sessional worker. We are pleased to say that she has now taken up the position of Support Worker for Glenrothes and will be supporting Young Carers from that area.

Jen Miller - Support Worker, West Fife - Previously, Jen worked as a sessional staff member for Fife Young Carers, supporting the delivery of our Group and Respite opportunities. Jen has now expanded her role and come on board with us as a Support Worker for the West Fife area. Jen has always worked with children and young people throughout her career and we are sure these skills will be very beneficial to the young people of the West Fife area. 

Michelle Lawrie - Support Worker, Levenmouth - Michelle has worked within this field for about 27 years. Michelle has worked in Residential Schools for young people with learning and behaviour difficulties, Youth Homelessness, and Family Support. Michelle has now taken up a Support Worker role and will be working in the Levenmouth area. 


Amber Reid - Young Adult Carers Worker, West Fife - Amber joined us here at FYC in 2016 as our Development Worker which mainly consisted of developing training and information, both for Young People and Professionals across Fife. Amber has recently refreshed and changed roles to our Young Adult Carers Worker, providing a range of support strategies to help our Young Adult Carers flourish and thrive. 

Claire Simpson - Young Adult Carers Worker - Claire previously worked with young adults with additional support needs. She joined our team in June 2019 as our YAC Worker for the West of Fife and provides 1:1 support aimed at improving YAC's outlook on life and helping them reach a positive destination. She was employed as a sessional worker for FYC before coming on board full time. 


Josh Morris - Education Worker - With over 10 years’ experience working with young people, mainly in sports environments, I am passionate about empowering young people to achieve their potential. I am really looking forward to working with the schools and colleges in supporting our Young Carers and creating a learning environment where every young person can feel valued and listened too. I also feel fortunate to be able to work with such a hardworking and welcoming team at Fife Young Carers.
